PLEASE READ these important changes to our adoption procedures. 

We are open only for people seriously interested in adopting a cat. Please come into the shelter during adoption hours to pick up an application to be pre-approved for adopting a cat or email us for an application to be sent to you. Once you have been pre-approved, you are welcome to come to the shelter during adoption hours to be shown the cats.

It can take up to one week to be pre-approved and you will be contacted via email.

Lost Cats

If your first attempts to locate your lost cat are unsuccessful, it is time to spread the word as far and as fast as you possibly can. Make up posters with name of the cat, a photo and/or description and LOST CAT in letters as large as you can make them. Be sure to include your phone number, email and the location where the cat went missing. Display posters around your neighborhood and in local businesses. Make sure to notify vet offices and shelters like People for Cats, since stray cats may be brought there. Also, contact your local Animal Control Officer since people might report finding or seeing a stray cat.

Lost cat ads may be placed in the Enterprise and Cape Cod Times free of charge and reach a large number of people. Lost cat flyers should be posted on the following Facebook pages: your personal page, People for Cats page, Lost & Found Pets page in your town, Cape Cod Missing Pets, Cape Cod Missing or Lost Pets and Helping Lost/Found Pets of Cape Cod Get Back Home. Be sure to include your town and contact information and then check those pages frequently, as new information about found cats may appear at any time.

If your cat is microchipped and you have registered the microchip, your chances of getting him/her back safely are much better than the average return rate. Of the stray cats turned into shelters, only about 2% ever get back to their families. On the other hand, 20 times as many microchipped cats get home safely if they are properly registered. Imagine if they were all microchipped and registered, then that figure would approximate 100%!
